About Us - Full-Time Musicians in Music Business

Why I built this website

I love to see people fulfill their purpose in life, especially musicians! I wanted to collect good information from authentic full-time musicians to help you realize that we are all just common people who did some uncommon things. Most musicians play occasional scattered gigs but desire much more. This website sums up thousands of our performances and experiences in simple terms. I never found 'realistic' information online when we started out, so I decided to build this website to help you learn from us and other Small Time Musicians how to make good money playing music!

Our music business qualifications

The day I started engineering a career for my husband T, I had to look at where he was. He was working as an IT Technician for the county government and dreaming about music all day.

He was currently playing for beer and tips and occasional payment...if the venue offered it. He had no professional CD to sell. He had no branding, no website, no business cards, nothing.

I also had to look where we were in terms of finances,  geographically, and music business experience. We did not have much on our side at all.

All we had was T's talent, my business skills and our desire to succeed. I got to work applying what I know about building businesses and teaching him sales skills. When he felt uncomfortable about trying a sales technique I was teaching him.

I would push on him a little and say 'at least try it for 30 days'.
He knows me so he trusted me. He would try what I asked and within a week was totally comfortable after he saw it worked. He has a great work ethic and was motivated to become a full-time musician.

Details of how we did everything are written within these pages as well as the BOOKED SOLID IN 30 DAYS! training course. That means you will know what we know to build a successful music business. All who know me personally know this to be true, so I have no problem publishing it.  But are you willing to get out and do what TMoody had to do?

The video below is a message from TMoody expressing the purpose of this website.

All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.

Our results with the music business

T matched his day job income with guitar lesson income within 4 months, then doubled it in 8 months. We had a hell of a system figured out! Our system even eliminated lesson cancellations to keep our income reliable.

We began getting paid gigs along with lessons. Later (and luckily) we ran across a booking agent. A real full time booking agent...not a wanna-be.  Before long T was working 6 days a week. He earned $88,400 that year. But then he got burned out from working 50-60 hours and began to feel like it was a job! This was not good.

So we dropped the lessons and stuck with gigging since performing is what fulfills him the most. We refocused and fine tuned our gigging system at that point. A lot of trial and error came in to play and 'money was funny' for 3 months until we nailed it all down.

But we finally mastered a gigging system that works. Today T consistently earns a $50,000+ income every year playing about 15-20 hours a week. Not only that, but can move to another state and build the same income within 30 days.

The toughest part for him was learning to sell gigs.  Now selling gigs has become easy to him. He enjoys doing it but he is so booked up he rarely gets to...until we relocate.

Over the years of doing all the shows, guitar lessons, music sales, marketing, etc. we have learned more truths than I could ever write about. But I will do my best to share everything I know in hopes that you will be a full-time musician too.
Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.

My background

Your gift is your talent for your instrument. My gift is creating money out of thin air. That means I automatically view things from a financial aspect, which might explain my success in corporate sales and business.

I have been through hundreds of corporate sales classes. I have read thousands of books on sales, business and communication. My corporate sales results have always been in the top percentile of every corporation I worked for.

I have built about a dozen businesses mostly in construction and property investment. I successfully sold 1/3 of those and never lost money on any of them.

I once started a solid business with $62 and an service idea. I grew it up for 18 months until it was worth $750,000. If you understand business you know that's more than most people can do.  All who know me personally know this to be true, so I have no problem publishing it.

But I love music! I am thankful I have a gifted ear for it. I have a free spirit that loves to travel. My husband T is an exceptional musician. Our kids are quickly becoming fantastic musicians. I've included the video below which explains why I have a big heart for talented musicians.

This is part of my family of musicians. My kids Cliff and Alex, write and perform many original songs. They played this this song for us one day and I really liked it. TMoody was in the studio that day, so we recorded their song while T added some lead guitar. We included as a bonus track on a TMoody CD.
